Web 2.0 is moving to the mobile phone, as sites like YouTube and MySpace launch mobile services. Successful “Mobile 2.0” operators will create an open platform that enables a community of developers to drive rapid experimentation and design innovative services. If operators figure out how to collaborate successfully, subscribers, traffic, revenue, and market share will follow. If operators rely on their traditional vertically integrated and command-and-control approach, however, other more nimble players will seize the Mobile 2.0 opportunity.
